There are two sensors in the liftgate, none in the dutch doors.
The sensors are attached to the liftgate latches on the sides of the liftgate.
The lower liftgate trim pannel just pulls out after you remove the screws for the grab handle.
You need to unbolt the liftgate latch (3 bolts) and pull out the latch. To get the latch out, you'll need to unclip the tabs that hold the cable routed from the release handle to the latch. You do not need to disconnect the cable.
You will see the electrical connector for the sensor attached to the latch.
Handy but annoying sensors. Could one of your latches be a little frozen causing the sensor to not pick up the exact position of the latch? Maybe try a heat gun on the latch to melt out any water and dry it up first?
Good luck! Jason

Ive trouble shooted each door and resorted to simply disconnecting sensor in each door. It did not fix problem so its gotta be in back hatch. I did what you suggested and removed back door panel and removed latch assembly and there’s only two wire connectors and neither seem to fix issue when I disconnect them. I’ve searched all the back door on inside of back door and nothing there. Could you help? What am I missing?

Just splice them
So read threw tons of fourms on this issue mine was the back hatch i realize this is a really old thread but hopefully someone sees it and can fix it as fast as I did. Tried the lubing everything down that worked for one drive then no good so pulled the handle popped off the trim tried just pulling the plugs off both sensors hoping it was an open circuit shows closed hatch state no good so spliced the wires now no annoying light I personally don't care if it works right just that the light doesn't stay on so thats the fix for me hope this helps someone sometime
