I just finished installing a headlight wiring harness w/relays to boost the voltage to my headlights and negate the chance of my headlight switch burning out. I picked up the kit off ebay (hyperlink attached). Being from Canada, my truck is equipped with daytime running lights (DRL). The mod did produce noticeably brighter lights, but the only problem is, now my daytime running lights run on high beam instead of at a reduce brightness. There is absolutley no difference in intensity between my daytime running lights and when my headlights are on high beam. One thing I'm not sure of is that I did install the ground for each light to my rad support instead of my fender wall. Not sure if that is what the problem is. Has anybody had a similar problem or does anybody know what I can do to remedy this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm no electronics expert, I'm merely repeating what I've heard..... but I think the DRL's always run off the high beam filament, merely at a lower voltage/brightness, at least mine do when they're hooked up. (Living in the states, I'm not required to run DRL's, though my truck is from Canada originally, and had them connected when I got it.)
Thanks Quadzilla....you're absolutely right! I looked it up in a Ford service manual and the DRL's indeed run through the high beam filament. Not sure why...but thats what the manual stated. Thanks for your input...I appreciate it!!

Smart move. I've seen (and smelled) a lot of headlight switches burn up due to no relay. Happened on a 94 ford turbo diesel & a 92 dodge cummins. I helped my brother put the relays on his (headlights, running lights, trailer lights) and no burnouts after that.
with the relay kit your lights are either on or off, the headlight switch will not be able to dim the light for the DRL, if you wanted to get into it, use a NC/NO relay, connect dim line from head light switch to NC portion for the DRL, when turn head lights on relay would close the NO contacts to give full brightness.
