trail ridge mirrors

Good morning FTE!

I installed some trail ridge mirrors (TRMRP00020) recently on my 2003 f250 xlt 4x4. My truck did not come with heat or turn signals wired in. Does anyone have information on the correct wires on these mirrors to hook up signals, running lights, and heat? I have contacted 1Aauto whom I purchased the mirrors from but they have not been helpful and say they do not have any information on the wiring schematic for the mirrors.

Paging @ESwift and @Wes444 to the front office...

I believe both of these fellas have recently performed those modifications to their mirrors.

Yeah, recently like 2 yrs ago....

The good news is turn signals and running/parking lights are "easy" to wire up. The bad news is there is no automatic heating to tie into so you have to go the timed relay/toggle switch route

There's a thread in the tech section on wiring them up. Buy some wiring pins to add to the connectors that should have come with your lights. Then run the 3 wires out the door into the cab to tie into the brown parking light wire behind the lights switch. And the turn signals are under the steering column. I can't remember those colors off hand, but, be warned. There are 4 identical colored wires. 2 are pre hazzard lights 2 are post Hazzard lights. Tie into the wrong one and the mirrors lights will only come on when the hazards are vs the turn signals. At least that's what one thread mentioned. I picked the right 2 and all worked good.
You'll also have to run a ground wire from a pin but that's no biggie. So you'll need to add 4 pins per side.

Are the pins listed in Archions lighted 08 style mirror upgrade correct for the grey connector? E7EB-14461-BA?

I guess I could take the light out of the mirror and see what wires run to it for colors, that should just leave the heat wire left to figure out, correct?

I read somewhere about just running the heat to the power wire to the window switch. I know this will be key on power to heat all the time and I would be fine with that. Would the heating element be too much of a draw to run off of the power wire at the window switch?

For heat I ran a hot wire to this

, then hot wire out to each mirror. For turn signal I spliced into turn signal wires I believe under steering column, not sureon which ones off hand. Running lights same thing, you can also splice into wire for cab lights behind pass side kick pannel. I will try and post more links I used later. Mine were a bit different as I added power extend and power fold 2008 oem mirrors, so I had even more wires and switches to add.

I've recently fitted these to my Fontaine truck, they came with a switch & loom for the powerfold, I cut the connector from the original mirrors & spliced the wires for adjustment, then had to work out which wires were for the running lights, turn signals & heat. I used weatherpack type connectors for these, hardest bit was getting the extra cables through the rubber bellows. I'm using a timer relay for the heat that is triggered with a momentary switch.
I haven't driven with them yet but I'm very pleased with the quality and fit.

Did you have to run an extra ground to each door to get the lights to work?

Some info on running the heat, turn, running and ground wires on my aftermarket mirrors is in my build thread here, starting at post #582:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post19978533

I elected to have the heat on all the time, but used the extra customer access 10A circuit to power it. This is on a 2001. The '02/'03 might be different.

My mirrors had a current draw of about 1.5A each. Not sure if the power mirror circuit has enough margin.

Thanks, I'll read through that. I ended up using the customer access circuit for the power fold. Do you have a recommendation for another power source?

I doubt the power fold uses much current - you could check how much it draws in operation and see what you get. I think you could double up the mirror heat and power fold on the same customer access circuit. Check your mirror heat draw with engine idling so you have 14V or so driving them.
