I've been reading, looking, searching...
As a few of you are aware of, I have plans to change the side view mirrors on my 2001 Ex. I want towing mirrors.
I have been recommended the 2008 mirrors with integrated signal and position lights.
Now, I don't like the style of those. To square and HD for me.
I have searched various websites, and found these.
My question is:
Can any of you recommend a set of mirrors like the one I found?
There are a few suppliers offering them. As far as I can see, there are minor differences. I prefer the grained style, not the smooth.
I've also been told some of them are crap.
So.. have any of you bought mirrors like these, and can you come up with some recommendations?
i have a set of ford oem, not aftermarket, tt mirrors that are power and heat...no signals and have the chrome putco covers on them that are for sale...pm me if interested.
this pic is of my new mirrors that are factory ford oem mirrors. not aftermarket.
This is what I'm looking for. Except for the chrome. I want them all black.
Anybody have the part# ?

Telescopic trailer tow mirror for 01 excursion has 2 options. Power w/ Heat are 3C7Z17682EAA & 3C7Z17683EAA or Manual mirrors which come in a kit w/ both mirrors and is part number 2C3Z17696AAA
Wow, Ive never seen these before. I like it. How is the installation done? I know it mentiones just a screw driver, but do the brakcets that grasp on to the two bars of the trailer mirror come off, and once you placed it on the bars you just screw them back together? I just want to be sure i dont have to remove anything from the Ford Towing Mirror or anything.
With all those mirrors you can see the future! Redundant if you ask me, but then again I don't have them on my Ex. I think the tow mirrors that come with the Ex are perfect.
I would try Ebay to get used ones. Here in Florida we don't need the heated ones but they come as part of the package. The only change I would make is to have the bottom ones power operated also.
I spent a lot of time researching this very topic, Towing mirrors. I have a 2002 Excursion Limited that has a six inch lift. I just bought a 32 foot Car Hauler that is over 8 feet wide and 10 feet tall. I needed these mirrors! I have the Paddle style heated mirrors with built in turn signals. For the Towing Mirrors with heat and built in Turn signals, Ford wanted over $700 for the four parts needed. 2 Mirrors, and 2 backs with turn signals. I found them for $425 shipped from the following site: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-04...spagenameZWDVW
These are made by The Exact Same Company that makes them for Ford, I checked. They have the Ford Part number stamped on them. They fit like a charm and plugged right in to my 2002, even thought they say 03 - 07. The reason they do not list 2002 is in 2002 Ford did not make a towing mirror with built in heat and turn signal.

The mounts are of the same type of plastic as the mirrors. There is two parts, a back and front half. they screw together like a clamshell over the bars. There is a thin rubber washer that is glued to the mounts where they clamp the bars. To use them, you can slide them along the length of the bar in or out. This allows them to positioned outboard when the tow mirrors are pulled out. It is just a set of screws that hold the clamps together. They offer for a couple of bucks a stainless screw kit that uses hex head screws for security.
Katiesdad7 - I think the Fords are great just the way they are, too. But the spot mirrors are pretty good size and allow me to see my entire trailer, including the rear top edge, when backing it into a tough spot. The Fords only allow me to see the bottom half. It also gives me an extra "eye" in the blind spots.
