I am at my witts end. It seems like this truck has been DOWN more than it has ran. When it is running it runs GREAT, no backfires, skips, misses etc.. Up until now the problem has always been a crank no start when hot. Most recently I replaced the HPOP and again it ran perfectly, started up every time hot or cold for about 300 miles, then it started running rough after a 75 mile trip.. showed 2285 low injector pressure..would only start in the mornings ONE TIME. then nothing unless unplugged ICP, I found a couple of shorts in the wiring harness, corrected those with new pigtails. started right up drove 3 miles and it DIED. no spitting or sputtering, just like turning off the key. Had it towed home now ICP shows"0" pressure IPR goes from 14.91 to 85 % in less than 5 seconds and still no start. Oil filter housing is filling with oil while cranking but still no start. Now even with ICP unplugged will not start. Here is a list of everything I have done to this truck over the past 3 years, not necessarily in order because I forgot to keep track while I was doing it. ANY INPUT would be appreciated, I really love my truck but I need for it to crank and run for more than a week without issues. ALSO, did pressure test via ICP sensor, no leaks detected.

Yes, I am pulling a code P2285 ICP low or out of spec, but the icp(and pigtail) has been replaced when this issue first began, (within the past month) code cleared, then after the truck died and had to be towed back . .the code came back again and wont clear again. I even replaced the fuel pump, still nothing.
The P2285 is what you get when you try to start with the ICP unplugged. If you clear the codes, will the P2285 come back when cranking normally (ie - without disconnecting the ICP sensor)?
If it does, then it sounds like it could be more wiring issues.
Yes it comes back even with ICP Plugged or unplugged. I agree that it seems to be wiring issues, it's just that I have replaced or checked everything I can find or think of. I get the feeling that it is something really small that will be an easy fix once I FIND IT.
That 85% isn't good. Are you sure you don't have a pressure leak? Maybe it cranks up once because the oil is thick and once it warms up/thins out, it finds its way out the bad o-ring/whatever.

All I can say is that I did do the pressure test via the ICP and pressure held. It is not even cranking once now.. but I did find one culprit.
I don't know if it is the WHOLE problem, but the brand new HPOP was bad, just pulled it, The new one was in worse shape that the one I replaced. I just picked up the new one I will put it in tomorrow and see what happens. .. I think I set a new record..(at least for me) pulled HPOP in 2 hours flat
Progress. What brand HPOP did you just remove? If you still have problems, have you checked the injector cup o-rings on the bottom of the HPO oil rails? I'm not sure if they are the same style as an OH'6 engine or not. B.
It was "standard" oil pump.. O'rielly's.. I know you are gonna tell me should have gone OEM, but I have spent so much money on this truck I have to cut a few corners on the more expensive parts.. and it does carry a lifetime warranty.. I just pray that this is gonna fix it.
You aren't the first one to go down the path of trying to find a reliable HPOP. Same "justification" as the last time an O'Reilly's HPOP failed - at least it is warrantied. To a degree, now you are committed to O'Reilly HPOPs - for better or for worse.
I decided to remove it on a gut feeling, when it came out there was no "tension" it spins freely. as opposed to when i put it in it was tight. As to being committed to o'rielly's if I get a second bad pump in a row, I will raise so much H@#! they will happily give my money back and I will go OEM on the next one.. hope that does not happen though.

I would not do that. You do what you feel you have to given your circumstances. It's not anyone else's place to tell you other wise. Too many keyboard warriors. Even OEM parts go bad. It's just luck, Er bad luck, of the draw. Good luck. I've got the top of the line lifetime tube style Dorman EGR cooler in my truck. Been there for five solid years and still no problems. B.
