My wife's whole family live in the immediate New Orleans area. All without power ( for 2 to 3 weeks ) but all are safe. Most have storm damage. My Sister in law was going to come up here yesterday but was trapped in the city. Maybe she can get out today.
Ida went through NJ last night, lots of flooding, road closures, folks getting evacuated, 2 homes exploded from gas leaks caused by flooding, one registered 3.6 on the earthquake scale.
Fortunately we’re all ok, I hope that all of our fellow NJ truckers are ok as well.
We took some heavy rain and flooding in northern NJ last night. Some water in the basement and basically a pond in my driveway. The garage door seals held up, though, and my truck stayed dry. Hope everyone else is good.
We got over 10" of rain in the Coatesville Downingtown, PA area Wednesday afternoon and evening. Lots of flooding, road washouts. It was pretty bad, in the middle of the storm UPS showed up with the bedwood kit I ordered and left the box leaning against the side of the house in the pouring rain. If I had not heard the truck pull away I would have never known it was delivered. I got in my garage got soaked doing it, opened it up last night after work and it was packed really well by Midwest Early Ford via Ebay. Now the fun part begins.
We got lucky with this up here, nothing like the States it plowed through once it made landfall.
Got about 5" of rain upin MA. Thankfully my garage is well above the water table, but I still got all my parts off the floor, though. Good thing, too, as we still got crazy seepage up from the floor and a small leak was revealed in my old garage roof over the bed of the truck. All in all, no flooding damage.
My son came up from NOLA before IDA to stay thru it with us... He was worried about what he''d find when he made a run today. This house was the only one to survive Katrina on is block... He was pleasantly surprised today to find only one missing shutter from a window
... no tree damage, no roof damage, no flooding... thank you Jesus !!! headed back to B'ham right now, still no power or water so he'll be with us for a while...and that's ok with Dad.
I feel for you guys! I'm too far west in PA to get hit hard. I only got 2" of rain in my backyard.
In June of 72 PA got hit by an early hurricane called Agnes. It stalled over upstate PA and southern NY. Lock Haven was flooded bad. But I didn't live here then.
