Just traded my 2018 F250 in for a new 2021 F150. So far I love it. But it has lots of bells and whistles I never had on my basic contractor trucks before. I always had dash cams, but I am reluctant to install one on the new F150 as I know there is a pre-collision camera in the mirror. I'm concerned placing the camera close to it will conflict with the sensors.
What alternative locations might be a good compromise? I was thinking lower driver's side next to the "A" pillar. I know lower mid windshield is used by some, but in Alberta the PoPo consider that obstructive to the driver's view and will ticket you.
The camera is above the mirror, not in the mirror. You can see it in a small triangle in the top center of the windshield.
The key to a DVR/Dashcam is the location. Closest to the center and top is best for the view.
You should not have any problems mounting it up there as you can't actually get close to it unless you remove the black cover on the windshield above the mirror.
Im very happy with it. The picture is extremely clear. The blackvue app makes viewing your video very simple. Only regret I have is not getting it a lot sooner
Im sure it wasnt hard to install. I did take it to a car audio video place in my neighborhood and had them do it. I wasnt comfortable tearing my brand new trucks interior apart myself to hide the wires. The shop I went to did a very nice job with the install. Ill post up a few pics when I get home from work. I have a 512 gb card
