Tonight I noticed my brakes seemed softer than usual. They’ve never exactly been firm, but brakes tonight seemed squishier than usual. Brakes seem effective stopping and don’t pull or drag. I have a vacuum assist system, not hydroboost. Anyway, I checked fluid level—normal. Checked all lines for visible leaks and found none. I’ve been checking pads for wear when I rotate tires and none are close to being worn out. Anything else to check? Anyone have a similar issue? Thanks
Mine are the same way. But the truck stops straight and sure and with authority as I apply more pressure. Very easy to modulate. They wouldn't work that way if there was air in the lines or a faulty booster. My theory is it is just a consequence of vacuum booster on a diesel. Just enjoy the truck. Don't worry, be happy.

How old is the truck?
Might be time to change the fluid, brake fluid is hydroscopic, gets contaminated by moisture, and once it does it can make the pedal soft because water compresses.
But, the pedal in my new truck is softer than my old RAM, something else I have to get used to.

Its a 2017 and it does seem to have gotten softer. I actually have fluid and new brake lines already. So, I’ll be doing this job before long. But if there’s anything else to check I will. For now, I’ll just monitor level until I get time to to the lines and bleed.

Well, a '17 is well past time to change the brake fluid if it's never been done.
About 3 years max is the suggested interval.
Yeah, like I said I have fluid already and I’m planning on flushing the system. I haven’t seen any brake fluid replacement interval in the manual.
It's not there. Seems to me that it should be. Even though I live in an arid climate, due to the hygroscopic nature of brake fluid, I flush my brakes about every three years. I'm overdue on the F-350, thanks for the reminder.
I buy test strips for coolant and brake fluid. You dip the strip and it will show the scale of contamination and give you empirical evidence for your service regimes.
