2022, 7.3 and about 250 miles. On initial start-up, there's a slight puff of the blue-white smoke common with burning oil. (you can also smell burning oil) This key cycle had less smoke, but sometimes there's more. Reminds me of the old Chevy that had worn out valve guide seals, but a lot less smoke. Could be some residual "something" burning off....I'm going to keep an eye on it, but was wondering if any 7.3 owners have noticed anything like this?

Well, I'm picking mine up in the 1st or 2nd week in September. That will be the first thing I check. Will do several restarts during a good test drive including freeway speeds and a wait after returning to the dealer before I accept it and observe what's going on there. I have a nearly 800 mile drive for the return trip and will be sure to vary road types and speeds for break-in. Will be sure to check after that, too.
Hope this is gone from yours by the time you get 1K on it. Thanks for the heads up
By the way, I see you're in Newman. I'm going to Roseville to pick it up. What's that I5 looking like heading south of you to Bakersfield? Last time I came that way, looked like a good stretch to test for death wobble!
Does it do it only on startup and at no other time? Of course, watch it closely, but at this point, I'd suspect it''s more about burning crap off the inside of the exhaust and catalytic converters.

On start-up cold or after sitting awhile. And the level of smoke varies as well from a light few puffs to a descent cloud. Smelling it, I can smell both oil and fuel.
Sure sounds like a loose valve guide/seal. Nothing should collect in a catalytic convertor and burn off on every cold start. I would at least get the problem documented at a dealership. Wonder what the spark plugs look like.

I remember when I had both of my 2000 V10s and they would do that on cold startups, I'm sure it was just fuel but get it documented.
It can happen if you start your truck (cold) for a very short time and then shut it off. On the next start, you can get an over-rich little puff of "fuel smoke".
