I'm new to the 6.0. Have had a 7.3 since 2007 and always made fun of you guys. Just (today) purchased a 2005 6.0 and found some coolant issues.
The threads on the degaus tank are a bit off from my tester and my 2000 truck. Any advice on what test adapter fits?
I have a MATCO test set with an Assenmacher FZ32 that fits my 2000, but I believe it changes for the 6.0 because it barely does not fit.
I found some listings for a FZ32a, but couldn't find anything online about the FZ32 so I am assuming they are the same thing.
I also tried the degaus cap from my 2000 and it did not fit, just as the FZ32 did not fit.
I have now spent an hour searching for the correct adapter online, but am unsure which tank the adapters I have found will fit.
Does anyone know for sure what part number of any brand will fit a 2005-7 6.0?
I did read everything I felt was relevant... I found reference to the Snap On RADKITPLUSA 078-00592 from a TSB.
I believe that is very similar to the MAC Airlift kit that I have, except my kit does not have a threaded adapter that fits the 6.0, only one that fits my 7.3.
Haha... thanks for the spellcheck. Have you used the Gates one Mark?
The Gates one lists 1999-2016, all powerstrokes. I have found other listings that split at 2003 (7.3/6.0 changeover).
Maybe one of my DEGAS bottles is a crappy dorman and the threads are weird... I happen to have a NIB Motorcraft 7.3 Degas bottle on the shelf, I'll check it's threads and see which cap fits....
No, I have't used the Gates one. I was just going by the specific listing for the 6.0L.
I use the Radkit Plus, and it is a rubber stopper type system - better designed for vacuum. For pressure testing, I just "tee" into one of the small vapor lines.
Measured and compared all my 7.3 stuff, it all matches. 51mm diameter threads.
The 6.0 is 53mm threads. Not sure if other 6.0s are, but thats what I've got.
Just ran to the hardware store and collected enough stuff to Tee in and check pressures, and also build a bubbler.
Until I can get my hands on an adapter and verify without spending $30 I'll just get one of the universal rubber stopper type adapters that I can use on multiple applications.
A couple of years ago O’Rileys had a coolant pressure test kit. $160 plus $40 for two adapters in smaller, separate box. One of those extra ones fit my 2006 degas bottle. Wish I had noted the p/n but I didn’t. If you don’t want to keep it they return for 100% refund.
This is a picture of the one I rented, below is a pic of the one on the website. The one that fits our degas battle is in the adapter set.
