I noticed today that my turn signals/hazards and brake lights were not working. I checked the fuses and found one blown.....I'm thinking easy fix. I thought too soon.......as soon as I put a new fuse in, it fried!!! I made sure turn signal switch was in middle position, hazard switch off and tried another....fried that one too. I looked in the owners manual for a description of that fuse. It's fuse 13 under the dash and powers my turn signals, hazards, brake lights, and I guess it also powers the cruise control. I disconnected the turn signal/hazard swith (both plugs), the brake switch, and I unplugged the cruise control power at the plug under the air bag and the turn signal/hazard flasher. Thought for sure it would be good now, you guessed it.....I zapped another fuse. Is there a common problem out there that I'm not aware of or is there something else that I should be checking.
any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Just letting everyone know that I resolved the problem today. Following a wiring diagram that I have in a manual, there are supposed to be two circuits (wires) powered by the #13 fuse. One is the wire that feeds the brake switch (lights and cruise control) and the other feeds the hazard/turn signal flasher (hazards and turn signals). I totally removed the fuse box and found the wires leading from there. There were two wires from one connector and one wire from another connector right next to it. The single wire was the one that fed the brake switch. Checked it for a short to ground........Good. Checked the pin with two wires..........Shorted to ground somewhere between fuse box and wherever the two wires go. One goes to flasher and one goes somewhere else. Only way to find out was to clip one and check them both. Clipped one and checked it for short.......Shorted. Checked the other for continuity to the flasher.......Good. This wire that was shorted actually wasn't even going to the flasher....so I just taped both ends and put everything back together........everything working fine. Maybe an extra wire that shorted out???? For now problem fixed.
I found out later that the wire I left off was actually going to the brake pressure switch at the master cylinder. I think these switches are notorious for leaking and shorting out. Well anyway......the whole electrical plug at the switch melted and had caused the harness to fall and short to ground again on the steering shaft. I had to replace the switch w/plug and splice the wires. Apparently the two wires at this plug had attached themselves to eachother and prevented my cruise control from working........module thought brakes were always applied and wouldn't engage cc. If you have any other problems....just email me or keep posting..

The guy in the parts dept at the dealership told me it was a BIG problem with different vehicles.......excursions, trucks, and a lot of cars that had the same setup.

I have tried to find the recall but havent found it yet. Would be nice to find because lastnight my X had a small engine fire around the speed control deactivation switch. Burned up the plug and wires, now some gauges dont work so its at the dealership. Hope its covered under recall because insurance wont cover it or rental car.
Now I'm having this problem with a 2005 diesel ex. Any good solution. Blew the fuse a couple of weeks ago, replaced it, now it's blown again. Any help? Thanks.
