Since you have an XLT and the smaller 8" Sync3 screen, do you think it will still use the previous version of Forscan, and maybe the new version of Forscan will be intended for the newer 12" Sync4 systems? This is what I have. been wondering about since mine is also the XLT and will have the smaller (older) 8" Sync 3... I would imagine that these will now have different codes, unlike in the past years where they have all been the same. They talk about the 22's having an old and new on board network.... maybe whichever Sync system we have is how to know which to use? My 22 XLT is scheduled to be built 9/7 so hoping all you early adopters get it sorted through by the time mine comes... lol!
Id think new versions would be backward compatible though with older trucks. I've used the previous version on my 2017 and trucks from 2011-2014.

I really don't know... but in their reply to you they said that the "current version of FORScan supports only new"... I don't know if that is just a for now kind of thing since these are brand new and they are in the initial stages of sorting it all out, or if since this is a whole new Sync this year, there will actually be 2 different versions we will have to use, based on which version of Sync we have. I have never used it for anything... in fact, never even used the OBD ports in any of my cars, so this is a 100% learning process for me, and I don't understand all the ins and outs of it... so maybe it's just me making uneducated guesses... but, just curious, did your 17 and older trucks all have the same Sync system?

My 2017 was an XLT and had Sync 3 but the older trucks did not.
Looks like Forscan still has some bugs to workout. I emailed them the log files and here is their response."Hello,
Thanks for the debug information.
It is very strange situation. New 2022 F-Series has new on-board network, same as new 2021 F-150 has. We have modified FORScan v2.3.42 to support it in full. But your car seems to have old network on the board (like in 2021- F-Series). So, now we have debug information from two F-450. First one, manufactured in July 2021, has new (2021 F-150 style) network. Second one, your one, manufactured in August 2021 (so 1 month later) has old (2021 F-Series style) network. According to the VIN, both trucks seem to be manufactured on the same factory. So, it looks like Ford does manufacture 2022 F-Series with two version of the on-board network, old and new, and current version of FORScan supports only new. We need to implement support of the old network too, but it will take some time."
I'll say one thing, you can't complain about their response time! I feel better now that they know the problem.
Must have something to do with your's still having Sync3 and Forscan assumed all MY22's would have the same networks.
On mine with Sync4, it found all of the modules first try.
Forescan will get it sorted out. They seem to respond to this kind of thing quickly. You might want to mention to them that MY22's can come with both Sync3 or Sync4 depending on trim level.

This is what I was talking about, Sync3 vs Sync4. I bet they won’t work the same in Forscan, and with the newer Sync being all the focus (and likely most purchased) version, I bet those will be worked out first for no other reason than this is what most people will have. So it’s good to see that those of us with the older Sync3 will start getting some progress made too! Hopefully by the time mine gets here at the end of next month this will be ready to go. I mainly want to enable the DPF% screen and the auto regen option, so Please share once you get it sorted out! I already have my OBD cord and it’s updated with the latest drivers so I’m about as ready as I can be… lol!
They already sent me a beta version to try. I'll check it out tonight when I get back home and report back.
Thats good to hear! Maybe once this all gets sorted out we will need to have a 2022 Sync3 and a 2022 Sync4 Forscan section. I'll be real interested in all the steps you take to enable DPF% and auto regeneration checkbox. Hopefully the plain English version will work!
I had the dealer diesel tech try to turn mine on. He hooked up the computer and couldn’t find it. If anyone has instructions I can give him next time I’m there, i would be grateful.
mine does a auto regen maybe 1 or two times a month🤷♂️ And a full tank of def lasts me longer than a year👍🤷♂️ For the most part only highway driven and not a single issues. Love this truck

So I went in and made the changes to add the DPF% screen and the Auto Regen checkbox. Both appear in the display now, but I cannot uncheck Auto Regen. I used the most up to date Forscan version and used the plain English to enable them. I even disabled the Auto Regen and then re-enabled it again and it still won’t let me uncheck the box… Any ideas?
Ok… I realized I also had to go I to the PCM and also enable the manual regen option with that setting 3. It works now! So glad I didn’t spend $250 for this option!
