temp sensitive ABS

I have a 94 E-150 van with anti-lock brake problems. The ABS light comes on only after the engine warms up. When outside temps are around zero, sometimes the ABS keeps working fine, and the light never comes on. I have checked all electrical connections and grounds to be good. Has anyone ever heard of this "temperature sensitive" problem?

John,

I have the same problem. Real annoying at night. I'll have to decide between getting the cash ready to have ford read the abs codes or take the poor man's cure and put some black tape on the guage cluster glass [plastic]. I'm getting tired of these abs lights. Anyone know if I can just take the bulb out?

Yes you can take the bulb out. for the most part the only thing that goes wrong with Rabs is the speed sensor or a blown fuse. and if the light flashes you should be able to count the flashes without taking it in. If its 4wabs you may be screwed as the control module or vlave blocks are ungodly expensive

my 88 F150's rear antilock brake light will come on sometimes when its cold out, like zero degrees, when i first get in to start it. the light will stay on until the truck gets warm AND i stop and restart it. then the light will stay off. as far as i can tell it doesnt have antilock brakes. well i guess it must, i just dont see anything extra except a sensor in the differential.

I have the 4 wheel abs, and had then fixed once under warranty. They told me it would have cost $700 or more, if it was't under warranty. I might bring it down just to have the codes pulled. The inspection station I go to for my sticker has told me that having an abs light on won't cause me to flunk the safety test. Just the red brake light will fail your truck. I'll take it to Ford, and get the code, when I get ahead financeily. I need 2 tires at the moment. think I'll get them first. The truck stops good even with the abs light on.
