Audiophile-Speed Sensitive Volume
"Speed sensitive volume: Radio volume automatically changes slightly
with vehicle speed to compensate for road and wind noise.
Use ... SEEK, SEEK to adjust."
Do the numbers indicate how much louder the music will get based on road noise, or is the volume boost a set amount and the control is only for sensitivity?
Just curious. There's another thread where people are turning off the sensitivy control because the volume jumps at strange times. I thought that maybe they could just turn down the sensitivity instead of having to turn it off completely. Problem is, I really don't know what the adjustment does.
on 1 you don't notice, or when at highway speed, it is harder to hear the radio.
at 7 you seem to notice the radio getting louder (perceived louder) as you increase speed. (i.e over compensating)
the best setting is where you don't notice the volume getting higher, even though it is..... or softer when slowing, even though it is. that's the purpose of this feature.
this is most noticable when coming off a highway. note how often you turn your radio down at the stop lite of an exit ramp. (especially when a good song is on) with the speed sensitivity adjusted to your liking, you should not think about turning the radio down when exiting a highway. it does it for you.
the volume spike is a glitch that i noticed too.. it seems that at almost 0 speed. the volume will spike quickly to the higher setting. it makes me jump sometimes. maybe this is when the electronics see the speed going from 1 mph to .9 and it is a calculation problem?????? don't know
but i like the speed compensating feature.
on my audiofile radio, i hit the menu button until i get to this feature, then adjust. mine is about 3 or 4 out of 7 i think
hope that helps.
Thanks for the explanation!
