Transmission issues

Hi all, looking for some insights into major transmission issue....I'm on my third transmission on my 2007F150 2 wheel drive. Had to replace first transmission at 125k miles after it wouldn't drop into reverse. Mechanic told me it was toast and needed to be replaced. I barely drive the truck...I moved and less than 12k miles later we started having issues again...this time the rpm's would jump way up in drive but the truck wasn't shifting from 2nd to third gear. Brought it to a national shop to get the warranty, they replaced the entire transmission after telling me the transmission cooling system went bad and ruined the transmission. Have had it on the road less than 1k miles and it started happening again. Under warranty, they replaced. It's happening again!!!!....It doesn't seem to happen if we move to a lower gear but that's not optimal as a long term solution especially after all this time and money! Any thoughts? PERPLEXED!

Transmission cooling system / Do you mean the loop into the trucks radiator for cooling and possibly a trans cooler in front of ac condenser . Did this cooling loop radiator get replaced meaning a better radiator . Perhaps you radiator pump system is not working very well .
. Are you towing with this truck . Is there a possible cross over of coolant into transmission .
I hope this radiator has been replaced and up graded. Plus what about the torque converter . I put a thermometer on my trans cooler to check it now and then when towing it needs to stay below 200 f . Heat destroys transmissions . Losing trans fluid is another bad sign . I have given my friends transmission cooler since they were too cheap to protect their own stuff pulling big loads .
Its possible your rebuild company not good ,those big chains are not for me .

Take it to a Ford dealer and have them scan the transmission. That should be the start of every procedure. On Board Diagnostics (OBDII) will give a wealth of information, if there is information to be had. When my 07 F150 wouldn't move forward we got it to the dealer first, then went to a good local shop. The forward drum, I think it was, was broken. $4200 later, I had a rebuilt Jasper transmission with a forged steel part replacing the factory stamping. Lots of money, but it hasn't missed a beat yet.
I cannot believe they'd give you a second and third new transmission and not replace the trans cooler. That's just dumb. Those parts don't cost that much.

I've never had luck with "national chain" transmission shops.

Good luck with yours, but see the Ford dealer first.

R.
