Another exhaust question

I think I know the answer to the question but I'll shoot anyway. I see a few aftermarket 3" CAT back exhaust kits that are in the stock location. But do they make a 3" from manifolds to CAT? (stock location) I've been searching around the web and here but don't see anything. I'm fine with stock location just want better flow and want to do it myself (bolt on).

96' F250 5.8L

Thanks

2 1/4" at the legs, 3" to the converter: Bassani 58150B3 Part# 58150B3 Bassani Exhaust - Bassani.com

This one also fits: http://www.bassani.com/part/581503

No one makes a 3" head pipe to fit a stock exhaust manifold since the outlet from the manifold is too small to directly fit a pipe that big. That's why you see the smaller head pipes that converge into a 3" pipe.

I used a bassani y pipe and a JBA cat back. The Y pipe had to be adjusted (cut, bent, and patched) to fit on the driver side. Part of JBA kit had to cut to mate up with the bassani. But it works.

The 3 inch tubing is overkill and is noisy. I ended up ditching the JBA muffler, just too loud. I imagine it would be great if the stock cats were still in place.

Considering what I spent to get quality "bolt in" parts, I was disappointed in all the work we ended up doing to make it work, and would probably just go full custom if I had to do it again.

No such animal.

I fit Pacesetter Headers 1-3/4 tubes into a 3" collector, into a 2-1/2" reducer, into a 2-1/2"->3" Y-pipe, into a flowmaster 3" cat into a 3" flowmaster muffler.
All custom, y-pipe, single exhaust.
Stock single exhaust on my 351w is 3", and is not over kill.
Duel 3" exhaust gets you nothing but loud.

I figured the Bassani Y pipe would have fit without cutting it up. First time I heard that being needed for it. Actually wanted to go that route whenever I get around to doing a motor swap. Maybe I'll just have a shop make a new Y pipe, which is what I usually do for exhaust work anyway.

Do you still have the JBA muffler? What did you decide to replace it with a larger Magnaflow or just a Walker Quiet Flow replacement?

I have seen a couple other folks have identical issues with the bassani y pipe. Some sort of error has crept in in the last few years, because I never saw any complaints before. It also, took 4 or 5 months to get my hands on it, but that may have had more to do with the "retailer" than Bassani. I should have let bassani know about it, even if I didn't want a replacement, but I was over it.

I sold the muffler shortly after we took it out. I ended up using a generic stock style muffler.
