Yes, I always ask them what the options are for replacements and they always have a few to pick from I never pick the cheapest one and its always served me well. This time they only had the one option, blaming covid, said no idea when they would have any other options at this point. So here we are.
Next time I'll wait.
With that being said, I would still take it back to them and tell them you expect a call when they get OEM in. A distorted windshield is unacceptable no matter the reason. I would not accept that.
Carlite is the standard and never settle for less. That said…..what does the national glass replacement companies most use?
I went through 3 OEM windshields in about a 6 month span. Last one I replaced with Safelite. It's been much more robust so far than the OEM glass.
Edit: My experience based on Ford and my wife's Subaru for OEM vs Safelite is that the OEM glass tends to crack and the Safelite glass tends to pit. So, over time, the Safelite glass will degrade to the point where you hope it eventually cracks. The OEM never makes it that far.
I had mine replaced. Has the super duty logo but now I wonder what or who made it. Since I have alot of small pit marks on it from Purple power I use (never had issues in the past 5 superdutys owned) . I think there is a film on the windshield and a couple of years ago they asked me if I wanted the film. I think it's for a quieter ride? odd but next windshield replacement I'm going to check.
Way back in the olden days, 1996, I bought a F350, a crew cab dually 7.3 Power Stroke(great truck!) about two months after getting it, I was pulling up a steep inclined driveway at an angle, and the windshield made a popping noise and cracked bottom to top.
Ford wouldn't warranty it, but after making a stink with the dealer they gave me a customer satisfaction fix and had a glass company come out and install a new aftermarket windshield.
That new after market one went another 140K miles without so much as a chip.
Maybe just luck of the draw, but I was happy with it.
With that being said, it’s too late now unless you want to pay for another one but, you should have gone with the OEM glass which is made by Carlite.
I would call the company back that installed it and complain that is not OEM Glass. Tell them it is distorting your vision and it's unacceptable. If your insurance company was paying them to replace I would call up the insurance company also and let them know.

Read post #15. The company did not have any other windshield available and didn't know when an OEM windshield would be available. The OP decided not to wait.
Update: Had some time to go back and see the glass shop. Told them my concern and they agreed the windshield was unacceptable.
I asked about Carlite and they looked, claimed none of their suppliers had any available and wouldn't even allow a backorder. He had another brand that I can't make out the logo, maybe "XYG" ???
Anyway we looked at it and it looked fine so they installed it and I can't see any imperfections or distortion.
The craziest part is I've had it in for about 10 days(~3000km) and haven't got a new rock chip yet... oh I shouldn't have said that.
Replaced the brow on my replaced windshield. Went a little bigger and darker this time. Seems like OEM top shaded windshields are now a thing of the past.
I declined the recall if that's what you referring to.
head on collision has to hurt regardless of windshield being intact.
No issues with factory windshield.
Where did you interpret "recall" out of OP's question and anything about a collision ? lol
He was asking if anyone had experience with replacement glass that wasn't the best quality view-wise.
