17 Years ago when I was changing my cab I broke the original windshield; well today I finally replaced it. I got it locally for $189 all the ones I've been seeing has been going for $270-$300, is there a quality issue that makes the prices high? it doesn't have the green or dark top. However, it does seem like I can see for days...
I do know that prices have come down as I recently bought a complete glass replacement for my big window in dark limo (except windshield which has an 8 inch dark band).
As for quality, it is difficult to tell visually. I opted for tempered glass on the sides because laminate over time separates and yellows. However, the windshield can only be ordered as laminate.
I remember old Ford commercials showing how the glass they used in their windshields were chip and crack resistant with simulated rock pebble strikes. So, one can deduce that not all glass is created equal.
