This thought crossed my mind last night and I got to wondering how many of us diesel enthusiasts would buy a CGI idi engine block to replace our 6.9's and 7.3's.
If the option was available who would buy a CGI idi block for an engine build whether it's a high performance build or just a bare bones stock build??
Compacted Graphite Iron. It's what some of the modern diesels are being made of like 6.7 powerstroke and Cummins. Hypermax diesel also makes CGI blocks for 7.3 powerstroke.

I do love the IDI but you will not see me spending 9500.00 minimum on a engine block and still be underpowered. These engines are IDI and will forever be limited in power. There is very few of the 7.3 hypermax CGI blocks in the wild and most of them are also sporting P pump conversions and cost 20k+ to build. The last 7.3 I had 8k into barely hit 328HP and 580TQ at the wheels. It was the last time I did that.
