DOES SOMEONE OUT THERE KNOW OF SOMEONE WHO [RE]STORES THESE DOOR PANEL INSERTS? I THOUGHT 'JUST DASHES' COULD DO IT, BUT THEY SAY NO. THOUGHTS & SUGGESTIONS ARE SURE WELCOME. THANKS IN ADVANCE.
There is a version of that trim that is made from stainless steel, same size & shape as the cheap plastic trim. I don't know what year or trim level truck they came on, I got mine at a swap meet already off the truck & panels. 3 pieces of it for $10.00. I sold the extra on eBay, used the others on my truck. The stainless is excellent compared to the plastic.
If you could find the stainless trim, & a good upholstery shop, you could make a decent set of Ranger XLT panels.Start searching eBay for a set of the stainless trim, I am sure there is more out there.
The problem is without the woodgrain it's not the same. I'd rather have less than perfect original trim than something that doesn't even resemble original.
I suppose it depends on whether your goal is a restoration or a custom job.
X2 on the plastic/chrome/wood grain trim is NOT reproduced, same for the vinyl panel. The all metal trim (I believe the stainless is reproduced) and might be the only option to try. Door panel trim talk. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...options-2.html
I have a set of red fabric panels with that plastic/wood trim I'm not using, but the trim is only marginally better than OP's and the rest of the panels are on the grubby side.
