I have to agree. BFG has gotten a little too proud of their tires. Granted they have a 3 ply side wall, but for the difference in price, you can afford to buy the road hazard warranty. I looked at the Generals as well, but thought they looked too much like a BGF knockoff. I wanted to try something different.
Mattsf250 mentioned a good site www.tires.com. That’s where I went looking first. If you want to learn a little more about Nitto’s here’s their web side. www.nittotire.com
i am running the 37 in nittos and love them. I have found they do really well in the sand. If you are looking on that kind of tire dont forget about the toyo open country AT
they look like a great tire for sand driving. that was the first thing i said when i saw them. i do a lot of surfcasting here on the eastern shore so being able to float on sand is def key. but the tread just doesnt look promissing for mud and snow. i just checked out that Toyo tire you wrote about, peichai. looks almost the same at the nitto. thanks for the reply and the other tire to add to my list of possibilities. any reason why you didnt buy the toyo?? or just didnt know about it till after you bought the nittos.
I have a set of Nitto 295/75/16's on my Excursion with a set of Eagle Alloys. I really like them alot. I have had BFG's on my last 3 trucks and I did like them. But I do think they are getting a little proud as well. I do think the Nitto's improved the ride dramatically versus the stock tires. The larger size did take away about 1-1.5 Mpg though. I have a v10. But I am still in the range of fuel economy I expected so I am still happy. I would highly recommend them to anyone. A great place for wheels and tires is wheelsforless.com I was very pleased with their prices and service. For Excursion owners, I had to put a 2" leveling kit in it for clearance. I got that from offroadwarehouse.
Also the Bilstein shocks up front were worth the investment by a longshot! Very noticable improvement on bumps.
