i have been looking for new tires and decided, "ah what the heck, see what General has to offer other then the crappy Ameritrac that my SD came with." so i went to the website and saw they came out with a new AT tire. its called the Grabber AT2. looks kinda like the Pro Comp AT tires. i really want BFG's but i need some better rubber on my truck before winter hits and with the payments and all i need something more affordable but still towards the top of the list. so, if anyone has any comments or personal knowledge of the tire let me know. i posted recently asking about nitto's terragrappler but i dont think im gonna go that way either. thanks for the help.
Dunlop has a pretty goo looking new AT tire called the Rover RVXT. It's a pretty aggressive looking tread and it's even severe wheather rated. www.tirerack.com has em' (although no picture).

I'm in the same boat, Bigdawg....
I've got 91k miles on my '01 Expy XLT 5.4 and am not sure I can justify dropping another 180/tire for another set of BFG A/T's....as much as I absolutely love them. I can tell you I wasn't impressed with the B-stone Revo's which alot of former BFG A/T customers seem to love. I thought they sucked in the rain, and were marginal in the snow. Not nearly as good as the BFGs.
I just stumbled across the new Grabber AT2's, also. Obviously, they're trying to copy the BFG A/Ts almost to a "T". I'm surprised there haven't been more people here who've tried the Grabber AT2's who could offer some experience.
At least from my research, it seems the only reason why anyone looking for that range of tire ever stops buying BFG A/T's is because of the crazy prices.
Cheers,
Tim G.

hello, dont know if this will help but i just looked at a set of 33x12.50 today and the guy at the tire shop said he has been selling the crap out of them. he says everyone has told him they are awesome. there hasnt been any snow yet but they are performing good in the rain. i live in upstate ny and we get all kinds of crazy weather. i am going to be buying a set in about 3 months. hope this helps you. keep me posted if you buy a set
I guess that's "good" news to hear these tires are getting more of a following. It's a tough decision to move away from a tire you've had long-time experience with--only because tires cost so damn much these days. It's not like buying a new set of wiper blades which, if they don't work well, you can toss and go back to your old model wiper blades.
I got 65k mikes out of my last set of BFG A/T's on my '01 Expy, which I thought was exceptional for a truck that heavy. I'd run them on Wranglers and Cherokees before and was really pleased with them, which is why I decided to try them on my Expy. I guess if you break it down, BFG A/T's @ $180/tire which lasted me 65k miles (about 3 1/2 years for my driving), maybe I'm quibbling a few bucks, but these Grabber AT2's cost about $70/each less which would also allow me to get a new tire of tires for my Subaru before winter for almost the same price as 1 set of BFG's.
When you look at it that way, it doesn't seem like such a difficult choice, huh?
