2003 F150. I am removing old aftermarket back up lights. Relay just crumbled in my hands. Can't get any info off that. Can't find squat on the internet. Looks like 2 possible wires to work with. One is Green, which is where PO had installed a fuse, the other is Black with a Pink stripe. Figured Green is usually ground, but I' m not sure ! Any help appreciated.
Green is ground in building and house wiring, but not for vehicle wiring.
Usually the BK/PK is positive and a solid BK is ground.
Thank you. While I'm on here with you, any ideas why my Back Up Lights don't work ? I 've checked the bulbs, changed the relay, checked for broken wires, that's why I had questions about wire colors. The PO had installed KC lights under th rear of the truck, basically one wire went to Blk/Pnk, and one to green, the Blk/Pnk was used right off the factory wiring harness, the green went to green on the hook up for the Trailer Wiring. Hooked green back up, eliminated KC lights, and still have no back up lights. Only things left are BU light control ( Gear Shift Selector) OR is there something at or in transmission that is activated when you put shifter in Reverse ? Oh yeah, this is A/T on the column. Thanks again.
The backup and neutral safety switches are built into the Digital Transmission Range sensor (DTR) mounted on the side of the tranny at the shift linkage point. There's a good chance the DTR is the issue. I've attached my wiring diagram for a 2003 expedition which should be the same as the F-150. The last page has connector C167 which is for the DTR sensor. It looks like if you jump pins 11 and 12 the reverse lights should light up. Make sure you key is on when you test this and if jumping the pins turns on the back-up lights then the DTR sensor should be replaced.

Thank you so much. I will check it tomorrow. Excellent diagram, ( There's that Blk /Pnk wire I was referring to ) will let you know !
First check for power at fuse 5-15amp in CJB (hot in run). Power is fed from fuse 5 through Lt Blu/Pnk wire to pin 9 of DTR sensor. It feeds out pin 11 Blk/Pnk {when in reverse} to splice S130 at left rear of engine compartment then to S405 (rear lamp connector wiring harness, near breakout to C405. The splice S405 feeds left and right reversing lamps. The grounds to the reversing lamps Blk join at S401 and are grounded at G104 (front left of engine compartment. Splice S130 also feeds the trailer tow reversing lamp relay in the BJB.
This is from a 2003 F150 wiring diagram.

Reason: more info
Thank ya'all for your help. Well, I don't know where else to check, maybe wires pulled out from under the dash? I know they had a s... load of stuff wired up in this truck, that I removed, Mobile Phones, Antennae Amplifier, Trailer Brakes...... I've replaced relay for DTR, Reverse lights, checked bulbs, checked fuses 20,21 and 111, got the notion here that pins 9and 11 were to be jumped, still no reverse lights ! Any ideas ??????? Thank you.
If fuse #5-15amp, passenger compartment fuse box, is blown you won't have power to the reversing lamps. Your replies state you never checked it.
Yes, I replaced that. I stated that above , I was just calling it a relay. My bad choice of words. But yes, was replaced, in fact one of the 1st things I replaced looking into this problem. Thanks.
