But I don't know if the 239 used the same? I'm confused as to which gaskets you are using Are you saying you are using EBV gaskets on your EBU?
No - The FELPro gaskets I have been using are mislabeled as they say the EBU is a 55 and the EBV is a 54 - and that one size fits all. Of course those will not fit the 54 EBU, but those do fit correctly for the 55 EBV. The engine is a 55 EBV that I've put in my 54 that originally had a EBU that I still have. For gaskets this next time I have Victor brand gaskets for the 55 EBV.
When you gave me the measurement of the dowel, is that height from the deck?
I don't know the spec for the dowels. Measure the depth of the hole in the block, measure the depth of the hole in the head, measure a head gasket (since you have a few, use the thinnest). The dowel should be a little smaller than the sum of those.
Sounds good Charlie. I have never installed new dowels - how are they installed?
