Auto brake pedal assembly

Hey folks, looking for the single pedal (brake/for auto tranny) assembly for my '73 F100. Switching from manual tranny to auto. Are all '73-'79 pedal assemblies compatible with one another ? Thanks !

Ah NO there are about 36 or 37 differences in the pedal assemblies. If Number Dummy was off his FTE vacation he would chime in with the correct number of possibilities. Best to do is shop for a 1973 F100 auto trans pedal assembly.

Things like what motor, 2wd or 4wd, p/s, especially if it has p/b or not. 3 on the tree 4 on the floor? You would not think there was so many options, good luck.

1973/79 F100/350:

There are TWENTY TWO different brake pedals, NINETEEN different power brake boosters, SEVENTEEN different master cylinders, SEVEN different clutch pedals, I kid you not!

Plus, there are SIX different brackets that the brake and/or clutch pedals suspend from, THREE are specific to A/T, THREE are specific to M/T

Whatever booster/master cylinder is used must match the pedals. The pedals have stamped ID numbers used to ID them.

Best bet to live with an extra pedal until you have your exact truck sitting in front of you with an auto tranny or find some one on the swapmeet thread or FTE market place that wants to swap. One guy wants a manual while another wants an automatic.

Thanks for the warning. Serious bummer to hear the potential headache this is going to create with a peddle assembly swap. To complicate things the PO installed a later '70's auto steering column & C6 tranny. He left the original tandem clutch/brake pedal assembly intact. The truck originally came equipped with a manual (column shift) transmission, front disc brakes, & power steering. At this point I'll probably just leave the current assembly & use a cut off wheel to get rid of clutch pedal.

Find the bolt that holds the brake pedal on the single pedal setup and ditch the clutch pedal. ThatS what I did on my 76 when I put a c6 in it

Have a look here for parts and you can also create your own listing for what you want. This is also a thread you can list your request. This increases your odds of finding what you want.
I've had success in both places getting hard to find parts.

If you were ever able to find the part number you need, I have an auto assembly out of a 73 f250 with factory 460 and c6. I also have an auto assembly out of a 75 f100 with factory 390 and c6.

I know the problems as when I swapped my clutch brake assembly in the 73 it bolted up perfect. I’ve since moved it to the 75 and it changed the location of my brake pedal once attached to the power brake piston due to different lengths
