Hi all - I got a pair of vent windows from FB Marketplace for quite cheap. When they came, it was just the frame + the swivel part, but the division bar not included (and I was aware of it). I am curious, though, how does it get attached? I plan to refurbish the set I got and use it in my truck and reuse the division bars in there right now.
Screws on the top part, rivets on the bottom. As far as the division bar to the frame. Might be better to take the glass out of the frame and put the new back in and not take the division bar off the old frame? Guess it depends on what is bad on yours.
The new set I got is in much better shape than my existing set. So I guess my question is - that long silver bar that comes from the bottom of the riveted section - how the heck do you insert that into the vent window frame?
Did you get new vent windows GLASS only or new glass AND a silver outer frame? My pic #1 and 2 shows you how it is attached. I see the division bar is attached to the glass outer silver frame by sheet metal screws and the black bracket on the top. And then with the gusset (under that glass), that is riveted with a 2 and 2 set up the silver outer frame.
Well how are your original silver outer frame and division bar, to bad to reuse? Take the hinge point (2) screws and the bottom swing point nut off and put the new glass in the old silver frame.
I also noticed when you upgraded wing windows you did not get locking flip levers and the plastic tip in the lock lever looks to be very worn.
So I took a closer look at the new vent frame and I don't see any cutting marks. I reached out to the gent who sold them to me and he said the silver division bar simply snaps in... to clarify - this is what I am talking about:
