Is this normal or UH-Oh?

Please look at these frame pics. They are of the area where the front sway bar links are mounted. Is this normal or are these frame repairs?

My 2002 is like that also. Except mine has a lot more rust on it than yours.

Thanks guys. I was just sitting here kicking my own a** for not running the vin before buying the truck.

Strange that the frame isn't all one piece.

The front frame section is a separate piece. I don't know why, but it makes for easier repairs with major front frame damage.

Yep, that's the way it is from the factory.

You can section the frame if it's got severe damage. You have crush zones or places where the frame is supposed to bend in an accident. Then, you pull it as straight as you can, cut off that front portion of the frame and weld on a new section. The holes in the frame are purposely there, as are the welds that you see. If the frame is boxed it has to have a weld where the portions of the frame meet (running length-wise), unless it's hydroformed. I'm saying too much really, more than you're asking. I'll stop talking.

So, your frame looks factory, undamaged to me.
