14 F350, 95,000 light weight DRW. I have read 50 cricket posts and can"t find one to help me. I have a noise that seems exhaust related. It is intermittent but generally begins going down hill (without tow/haul) and accelerating just a bit. Will make noise for a few seconds then quit. I can play it like a musical instrument by pushing and letting up on the accelerator. Will also do it down hill in Tow/haul but stop when tow/haul is turned off. Truck is running fine, no codes, just towed my 17,000 lb trailer 1200 miles the last 100 or so on Pa elevator pig trails. No problems except that noise. Reluctant to take it to a dealer and really don't know anybody up here. Anybody have an idea?
EDIT I just did a test drive with everything off. I change my discription from crickets to more of a BIRD CHIRP OR HIGH PITCHED SQUEAL. It reveals itself sort of in unison with the turbo. In a coast situation with turbo at absolute zero a light touch on the accelertor will cause the squeal. The squeal will quit as soon as a few pounds of boost is realized. So my question now is how deep of trouble am I in. Can I keep going until I get more symproms? If so what will they be. I would like to get hime before having it repaired but do not under any circumstances want to be stranded with my trailer under tow. I am open for comments or suggestions.

You have the last year of the ceramic bearing turbo. 15 was the updated bigger turbo and steel bearings.
I'm thinking your turbo bearings are going. Hang on and I'll find a link for you to buy one that remanufactured with steel bearings... If this is that.

Yeah, I figured. Any idea how long I could nurse it. No way I would even try to change it myself on the road. I just carry a small tool box and I'm at an age where climbing o top of that engine for several hours would take a week to recover from. I'm in Clearfield Pa if anybody knows a shop or friendly dealer near by.
Yep, Turbo was checked thoroughly by Proformance Fuel Injection. An honest diesel shop recommended to me by an old high school team mate. Turbo is fine. The noise is they believe an exhaust manifold leak. They can't gt it in before I leave so I'll see if I can get it tightened in State College. Thanks for the help, and remember Proformance just off I 80, Clearfield PA
Thanks, Good looking stuff. As much as I baby my truck I am hoping to 150K on the OEM. But if I was gonna upgrade while doing the exhaust manifolds would be a darn good time. Thanks again.
