I have ordered my new SD250 with a 6.0 and it should be here next week. I have told the dealer that I would not accept the 03' 6.0. I have read the forum about this but could not find the engine build date when all the new changes were made. My question is, when I get my new truck what date will I want to see on the engine?

didn't the new 04 engines actually roll out of the plant the week before the 29th. i've seen trucks and heard people say they have a build date of 9/29 with the new engine in them. i believe they started going in to the trucks on the 29th.

you are correct. the truck's passenger side valve cover will say 2004 model, while the driver side valve cover will have a engine build date of xx/xx/03.

My understanding is that the revised 6.0L began production on 09/22 at the International Engine Plant. It then began to installed on 09/29 at the Ford KTP.
