I have a 2000 f250 4wd gasser. Love the truck. It’s been a great vehicle with the exception of the brakes.
I go through calipers and rotors every year or two. Granted, it’s not a daily driver, but every year or two I end up with a stuck caliper and/or a warped rotor.
Is there an upgrade for the brakes? Parts from a newer model or aftermarket?
Anybody else have brake issues with this vintage?
My youngest son bought a brand called Power Stop when he put new calipers and rotors on his 03 F350. Also had a good friend who runs GMC 1 ton PU trucks for his trailer/equipment hauling recommend that brand.
Have you ever replaced the flexible brake hoses from the hard lines to the calipers up front, or from the rear axle to the hard line on the frame at the back? I've had calipers lock up (Jeep and Chevy Silverado) but they were the originals and about 17 or 18 years old. Replaced the calipers, had more issues, replaced the brake hoses on both sides up front and stopped having dragging brake pads/locked up calipers. I remember reading that sometimes the inside linings in the hoses can deteriorate and cause a sort of check valve like action in the brake caliper. Pressure (when stepping on the brake pedal) will apply the brakes but the loose pieces of lining will maintain a partial pressure in the caliper when you take your foot off the brake pedal.
Not saying that's you issue, but I've seen that issue on my own cars in the past.

I think the main issue is that u dont use it often enough. I have the same issues I have trucks that i only use mostly for plowing in the winter and i have to replace the brakes every 2 seasons not because they are warn out but because they rust from sitting. I have tried the coated rotors and many different brands of brake parts
