I tried to find a connector I can use to test solenoids in the transmission. But found none match. I have a 94 model, so I bought a 94 connector, didn't match. So I thought when they rebuilt the transmission, they put in a 95 connector. So I bought a 95 connector, it still doesn't match:
The pin shapes doesn't even match. My original one is flat and all the ones I bought have circular shape. Now I have no idea what is that connector on my Bronco. Could anybody tell? Thanks!
I'm not sure where to get one, but you have the Ford part number in your picture. F3DB-14A468-C The "F3" part starting it means 1993, so try a 93 part maybe? When I search that part number online, it looks like it may be for just the middle plastic part of the plug?...
Thanks! Now I am looking at the cable picture I posted. So the 94 connector I bought actually goes to the other end of the cable that goes to the control module. I need the one goes into the transmission so I can use to test the solenoid. I also can't find where the 94 connector goes to on my car. I will try to find it again.
Looking at the connector pics in post#16 -- The top one marked "Original" is the MPLS (Manual Position Lever Sensor) connector for the E4OD. The other two look like E4OD solenoid connectors. Years ago, I needed to replace my 1994 MPLS. The replacements were the updated design that don't have the water-entry problem into the MPLS connector. The MPLS kit included the new-style MPLS, and a new-style connector housing with rubbery seal and instructions to move the wire pins from old connector to new. To get enough slack to work on the harness connector for the MPLS, I had to unplug the solenoid connector. What a bear to get to! It's been years, in the way of the solenoid connector on a 5.8L is the exhaust pipe. IIRC, there was a metal shield over the solenoid connector held on with a screw I needed to remove. Then getting a hand on that connector was a real hassle.
Sounds like this hassle connector is the one I need to access now. I need to find the pins on it and check solenoid #2. Do you have a picture showing exactly where it is? Thanks!
Sorry, no pic, but it is on the passenger side of the trans case, further back on the case, a little bit above the pan lip. Look for it in the spot that the exhaust pipe blocks almost completely
The wiring harness coming from up front splits into two arms, one goes the the MLPS on driver's side, the other goes to the solenoid plug on passenger side. You should also be able to feel up over the trans, to find that split in the cable going to those two separate connectors, and feel along and find the solenoid hiding place. Good luck!
