Heres another question for the seasoned guys. Should I modify my rear axle from the 3.55 to the 3.73 for about 1400 more Lbs. of head room on the towing capacity and the combined vehicle weight? I figure maybe to make things a bit easier on the overall drive train...
3.55 to 3.73 won’t make enough difference to amount to squat, save your money (Or send it to me )!! LOL.
There will not be enough difference to hardly notice. When changing gears for more power to the ground, go at least two ratios (4.10) or matbe even three (4.65). But then you kill highway cruising when not towing. This will make it easier for your truck to pull the load; but does nothing to increase the actual capacity of the truck as it left the factory; as others have stated.
