Stroker

I’m looking to build a stroked 460 (probably 514) for my 94 F250. It will retain the factory induction and EMS, so it will be fairly mild. Has anyone on here done a similar build? I’d welcome any information learned in the build. Thanks in advance.

How much power are you looking to make? Do you intend to replace the factory garbage cylinder heads with something that flows?

^^^ the expensive button ^^^. PimpX is not the silver bullet.

Mild build will probably be fine with stock PCM/EEC using MAF. If in doubt, after your engine is built, buy an AFR gauge, and determine if you need to tune it. Then look at aftermarket tuning equipment.

As others have mentioned the factory EFI cylinder heads are not the hot ticket to boost performance. This thread has loads of information on the potential of ported factory EFI heads: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ts-are-in.html

The OP made huge improvements across the RPM range on a stock cam, intake, PCM and 24 lbs. injectors. The latter is holding him back to make more power.

^^^ and he says "we are still on a stock speed density computer and 87 octane gas!"

Haven’t put a lot of research into it yet, that’s why I’m asking. I’m looking for around 350-400 hp and maybe 550 tq at the tire. Not sure if that’s even possible at my altitude (6200’), but I am beginning the research now. The truck is used solely for towing and currently has a Banks power pack exhaust system, 4:10 gears, trans built specifically for towing with rv converter, Kevlar clutches, etc. I know how much the speed density system limits performance, but not sure if I care to change systems. I’ve owned the truck for 16 years and it tows very well, but as the time comes to rebuild I’m thinking a bit more power would be nice and I’d rather drop $10k in this truck than buy new junk. I have a 95 ( that I bought new in 94)with 321,000 that still runs like new and neither leaks or burns any oil. Pretty much sold on these trucks. Any information I can get is appreciated.

That's going to be difficult, but not impossible at your altitude. I'd be looking at some sort of forced induction, rather than trying to do it all on motor, if it were me.

Boport, didnt finish, it was running out of fuel, and he was wanting to piggyback larger injectors, and then got off on supercharger tangent, then he sold the truck, so 272rwhp, would equate to what at 6200 ft, where OP lives, and your not getting Boport to port 460 heads, he dont have time.

You won't make this power using the stock parameters of the EFI system. That aside, you can make those numbers naturally aspirated, but the drive-ability won't be great. A super charger of some sort will probably be the ticket here.

Being at 6200' and naturally aspirated, it would need to be ~18% more powerful than the goal numbers at sea level to reach them at altitude. Seems like forced induction is the way to go to me.
