My son has a 04’ Escape 2WD & I’m wondering if anyone has attempted a drum to disc swap on the rear brakes? If so, what company did you order from, & did you run into any issues??

Waste of time and money. Properly serviced and adjusted, the rear drum brakes with the ABS will give you all you can get out of the rear tires.
I have to completely agree. Unless you're doing some other major modifications to the body and driveline, this would be a no-value-add to something that isn't an issue.
I like to waste time & money I guess. His Escape hasn’t been modified much, but it started out as a $200 car that he bought for his first vehicle. We have gone through its 3.0L, new brakes, front discs, rear drums, new struts, rear shocks, replaced the floor pans, the rear inner fender on the passenger side was completely gone so we replaced it, new inner &outer rocker panels, reupholstered the front seats & center console, new stereo, painted the car, roof rack, & wheels, & we added a brush guard with off road lights.
I’m just curious if a swap has been done or if there is even a kit available. I’m running 4 wheel drums on my 66’ F100 & he’s running 4 wheel drums on his 29’ Model A
I would say if you're going to do it find a 2005+ in the scrap yard and take the entire rear suspension (knuckles and all) as well as the proportioning valve and go from there.

My '10 Limited has drum brakes on the rear so I don't think rear disks were available until the new body style came out.
I've always wondered why they didn't offer rear disks. My '06 Freestyle has huge rear disks, but only rated to tow 2000# compared to 3500# for my Escape. I know there are other factors (mainly the CVT) but that's always struck me as odd.

They may have swapped back at some point, or for some reason the Escape didn't, but I do know the 2005 Tribute had rear disk. That and the lighting changes were the only difference in our 2004 to the 2005 model.
Update: looks like they went back to drum in 2007.
Neat. I wonder if that was specific to the Tribute. Would these be a fit for everything up to the '12 model year? Probably not going to do the swap, but it would be nice to know.

Could have been Tribute spec. I would think they would fit the Escape but couldn't say that with 100% sureness.
We never had issues with the drums though - I really don't think you would get any benefit from a swap like this other than ease of changing pads.
