oil drain valve

I was looking at UPR and Ronin. Anybody have experience with either one? I just changed oil in Grace for the 5th time and I'm tired of working over and around the sway bar.

Hmmm, is this a 4X4 thing because I have a 2016 with the 5.0 and the sway bay is not in the way at all when I change my oil.

When i take the plug out on my 4x4, it hits direct on the sway bar. i have a really big drain pan that I have to use to keep the mess off the floor.

IIRC, it changed in 2018.
Pan drains to the rear.... towards the sway bar.

Granted, my vehicle is an Expedition and different engine, but I installed a Fujimoto oil drain valve. When I change the oil I can slip a piece of vinyl tubing over the drain valve spout and put the other end of the vinyl tubing in an old 5 gallon plastic jug. THEN open the oil drain valve. Haven’t spilled a drop!

Me too on my 3.5. Best money I've ever spent, and the filter is a breeze too. My hope is next oil change to reach up behind the diaper and pull off the change even easier.

Here is a video review I did on the Ronin. I do like it, but I have a few things I would change about it. Its well built (and in the USA) from solid aluminum. It seals well and looks good. Its a tad expensive, but worth it in my opinion. My biggest gripe is the tool you have to use to drain the oil. I always seem to forget where I put it, and it has sharp corners that hurt your hand if youre not wearing gloves. However, it does has a nipple for a hose which makes draining mess-free. I highly recommend it. I have not used the UPR but it is very similiar. I also currently have a Fumoto prototype plug, but they are pulling the plug (pun intended) on the product.

Hopefully starting with the 2021 F150, Ford will start using metal oil pans and plugs on all ICE F150’s.

Just installed the Ronin on my 2018 2.7EB at the last OCI. I can confirm it is a well made piece of anodized aluminum that exudes quality. I think its absolutely abhorrent that the OE drain plug design almost requires this upgrade and the expenditure of $80 though. While the factory plug worked I found it overwhelmingly messy and that ANY cross breeze would substantially increase this mess. Can't say how well the Ronin will work for drains in practice as I have not hit my first OCI with it yet but I cannot see how it wouldnt work well. I did think about the UPR version, and I'm sure its great, but I just preferred to have a outer cap backing up the valve itself.
