Mark, I'm late to this party (what's new?) as usual. Did you crack the fuel drain open after the WIF warning? It might actually have been water in the fuel if you are out in the sticks and you bought fuel out there.
yep, I have a hillbilly drain hose that practically reaches the ground and I took two bottles of good looking fuel out there.
There are 3 relays behind the stereo in the dash, one of those is for the fuel pump. You told me/us you heard clicking back there, the relay may have failed.
At 8:00 in the video below he shows the location of the relay.
Before tearing into that though, get under the truck and check the connectors on the fuel pump. See if they are clean and secure.
Perhaps the pump itself is failing and you need a replacement.
You could hotwire the pump temporarily in order to function test it and/or get you home by connecting it directly to the drivers side battery. If the problem is electrical and the pump is OK.
Ok folks, thanks so much for the help. Quick story...after replacing the CPS there was still no change. But by the grace of God, the problem ceased as quickly as it surfaced and I made it to camp. Five hours later than expected but I made it. Took a nap and fired it up for heat (no kidding). It appears as though the fuel pump is not singing its key on song. So now I am in safe harbor with a primary suspect, who could ask for more? Now, is there a relay that I should look at? Which fuse runs the pump? And I don’t have a fusebox map with me so it’s location would be nice too.
Big thanks to Sous and Adam (Freakify) for the help.
Mark, if you need any parts, I'm pulling loads to Utica next week ( not sure when yet ).
If you want to try some spare parts, I could bring them just ask. We can figure something out. PM me and I'll give you my cell.

why thank you, we’ll see how it goes.
the pump works when wired directly but the issue persists. There is definitely clicking behind the dash and I reviewed that video so in I go

Quite possible the relay is failing then if you hear clicking and the pump works fine when it is wired directly to the battery. You are getting closer!
Even when a fuel pump goes the engine will still run, rough but will run It won't just shut off.
do you have a chip on the PCM?
or is it just re-flashed?

the PCM is flashed. I started the truck this evening and it ran like it should without any issues. This one is a doozy.
I'm in Utica today and coming back tomorrow, ( I think ).
could bring up a fuel pump if it helps but you have yours working, just relay is clicking.
Could you just try a new fuel pump relay? Or is there something else going on at dash?
Are you still in this area or mobile at this time?
Hope your able to drive to a better place to diagnose the issue.

Thanks. I’ve been driving it around town while I’m here and it’s maintaining its symptoms. Overall I feel comfortable driving it and will probably try to get it home where I have a whole truck to switch parts off of one at a time. Right now I feel like that’s my best path. Not really the one I want to take, though.

Travel safe Mark and we will be here for you if/when you need advice.
Weeellllll, I made it back in one piece. It seems this truck has a ghost. While up at camp, it gave me the fits one time and one time only. Some 420 miles home and not so much as one hiccup. It got rained on up there, passed through several torrential downpours on the way home and nada. The only thing I can consider doing at this time is pulling the main engine harness and inspect it for defects and check all other connections and make sure they're tight. My hands got burns on them from trying to install that CPS, I ultimately pulled the fender liner and installed it through the wheel well after spending more time trying to get it in than it takes to pull the liner.
Currently watching two threads with identical symptoms and decided to update. I report that I have no more symptoms and haven't done anything about it. I'm a pretty lazy guy and I do believe that I should pull and inspect my engine harness but I generally don't fix stuff that ain't broke. Maybe in the fall when it cools down a bit.
