Anybody know where to get a PCM? I need code PTM1. I tried Jody and he's all out of new or refurbs.
Truck's at dealership and I'm guessing I've either got a wiring short or need a PCM. I want to have a back-up plan if they tell me I need a $1600 PCM tomorrow.
I fried my pcm last january and got one installed at a local diesel shop for 1000.00. try your local diesel shop instead of the dealer it might save you some $$$$. or try a junkyard??
Alot of the late model junk yards save them mark with vehicle specs,(year, mileage, ect). When you buy them most of the places warrenty them for 30 days. If it is a bad one you take it back and they give you another. Cost varies but it can't be as expensive as new. May want to try that route to see if it is less expensive. Just my two. Good luck.
If they say yours is bad (which they will) go and take out your PCM, and overnight it to Jody, have him look at it and overnight it back. just tell the dealership that you will be supplying your own parts
Problem was the PCM and not a wiring short. The PCM was intermittently cutting power to the throttle position sensor (TPS) and throwing an SES code for the TPS. See my post labeled "More Throttle Problems."
Kudos to David Lott and his guys for having a spare PCM and tracking down the problem.
Mainly just wanted to close this thread out for future reference.
