Happy Independence Day !!!
We took our little man into town last night to watch the fireworks and he had a great time. Grandma and sister are coming over and we are going to BBQ and hang out by the pool.
Yesterday I finished my onboarding paperwork for my new job. I also finished up the last project we wanted to get done to the house. Still a little trim painting to do but nothing major. The wife is super happy with the house refresh. Going to borrow the neighbors skid steer this week and do a little driveway repair and I also need to move some dirt to improve the drainage away from the house.
The pee pee test and the background check came back good so I got the call today that I can start my new job on Monday!!
Battery is weak on the 79 so I am going to put the charger on it tomorrow morning before it has a chance to rain.
My July hasn't gone so well. Some moron backed into my drivers side fender, tire bumper and headlamp while I was parked. I got his plate and description of the truck but they still haven't found him. Claimed I gave them a partial plate number. Told me that all plates have 4 letters and 4 numbers. I see a lot of plates with 3 letters and 4 numbers. Anyways my uninsured is going to repair with a $250 deductible. I've been trying to turn lemons into lemonade all summer, but my lemons are rotten lol. Dealing with Allstate is online virtual. It's easy but I don't like that hit and run crap. I started to chase his butt down. Good thing I didn't as my agent told me the uninsured motorist insurance would not have covered the accident if I had moved my vehicle. I'm still out $250 for an accident that is not even my fault. I did have 4 Barb Q to eat at on the 3 and 4th. Plenty to eat. Did I mention I was sitting in my truck and just cranked it up? Hit me hard enough to move the truck and knock a brake pad out plus damaged the Nitto Ridge Grappler sidewall. Those tires have some of the best side walls on the market. It took me a couple of days to realize the brake pad was missing. I thought It was an alignment issue but now It is probably both. Looks like new caliper, rotor and pads for the brakes for sure. I'm just going to carry it to one of their prefered shops and let them do the work. Especially with this first low estimate I got.If they can do the labor and buy all the parts for under $1400 and guarantee parts and labor for a year, Then they can have at it. Glad your having some good luck for a change. That job sounds like a good one. I think we all need to slow down and smell the roses from time to time. But since June 29th my plate has been full in more ways than one. This is the most visible damage.
Dang that sucks.
Still loving my new job.
I charged up the battery on the 79 and going to take it for a ride around the block this weekend.
Built a retaining wall last weekend and I have to finish back filling behind it.
Borrowed my neighbors' bobcat and back filled the retaining wall I built last weekend. I am also digging new drainage ditches around the driveway because I am tired of my driveway always washing out. A work buddy is coming over in a week or two with a mini-x and we are going to clean out the main drainage canal.
My mom's drainage tile just stays stopped up. Even the ditch on the upper end fills in. She lives on a hill so not much can be done except concrete or pavement. I wished I had a backhoe. I could accomplish a lot around here with a backhoe.
I have the same issues but working on getting them resolved. The run off was cutting into my driveway and making huge ruts. I still need some rock but I have a drainage ditch dug now.
I started up the 79 yesterday and drove it around the yard. It was nice to drive it for a few minutes.
