Front receiver installation issues

Hey guys, I'm trying to install the Curt 31114 front hitch and the holes don't line up frame rails. Is my truck a total bent-dick?

I've installed two of these curt hitches on the 99-04 super duty trucks. Holes lines up both times...

Put a ratchet strap from one tow hook to the other and see if you can pull the horn just a bit to the passenger side to get those bolts in. opening the holes up would be a last resort

Which? On the frame? I don't think I have anything with enough juice to bore out the hitch -- that thing is thick.

That's a really good idea I'll give it a shot. Just never thought I could bend the frame that much with just simple tools.

Get one of those 2" wide over the road ratchets from tractor supply, the handle is much longer and stronger, you'll get some good leverage. You only have to move it, what? 1/4"?

Before final attachment of the hitch - I'd recommend chelating the rust on the frame and then shooting it with a few coats of paint. Rust prevention is worth a pound of iron oxide dust.

Thumbs up

Good luck. Hope you get it attached.
I went w the Reese 65049.
Looks like they mount differently.
Looking forward to using it for a bike rack..

I would do the ratchet strap. My 2008 frame horns needed to be spread out slightly after I made my custom front receiver. I wish i could have used a ratchet strap but needed to use a home made spreader to force them apart. They are not that hard to move.

Make sure that any bolt on either side remains LOOSE untightened, until ALL bolts are inserted.

If one side is tightened first, then that would undermine the tolerances provided by the slotted holes in the hitch flange and frame horn.
