since the support bearing needs to be replaced , I am looking at having the whole thing rebuilt and balanced or just replacing with new parts. this ebay item appears to be correct based on the images and description, but of course the ebay compatibility widget says "no". but I don't believe it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/12478330717...Cclp%3A2334524
anyway, at $575 and free shipping it is an appealing option. pretty sure the local shop i took it to will quote me $300 or more for U-joints and the bearing. and when I showed it to him he asked "did you get this from the bottom of the gulf?" not impressed with the rust. he said these shafts were already thin-walled.
on second thought it looks like that fits the light duty 1997 F250. but strange that it also fits older F250s??
Can they make you one from aluminum then? Supercrew trucks like mine have a large alu shaft, probably could grab two for cheap to make one for the PSD. Just need 1350 joiints on it. Truck will be quicker too.
ended up taking the driveshaft to a local drivetrain shop. he's up to his **** in alligators, so it's been a bit. he determined that one yoke was not quite right, explaining why neither of us could install a u-joint properly. so, he found a shaft there he can shorten and piece together a replacement for me. will have 3 new joints and a new carrier bearing. I hope it's done soon. i probably should have just ordered a whole new assembly, but this guy had already done a good bit of work.
