4600 vs 5100 shocks

I know there's a bit of threads on this, and I've read a bit, but I'm still a little unclear on which would be best for my situation.

2018 f250 CCLB. Reverse leveled with 1.5" blocks in rear w/ airlift 5000 bags as well.

Towing:
14-16klbs gooseneck trailer occasionally in spring for hay.
8-12klbs gooseneck horse trailer
7k lbs conventional travel trailer

Truck isn't a daily driver, but does run my family around occasionally. 48k miles, stock shocks.

Are the 5100 only for lifted trucks? If so, then the 4600 seems like the path then. I don't do offroad other than in some fields with the 2 gooseneck trailers (at 5mph) - no offraoding for me

2020 year model 4600 rear shocks.
2018 year model 4600 front shocks.

That would be the way to go.

2020 in the rear since they dropped those trucks back down from the ridiculous height in the rear, so those shocks should be the right length I take it?

Looks like it's the same shock part number in the rear for 2018 and 2020

I put the 4600's on my '18 CCLB Dually and felt they were a noticeable improvement over stock.

5100’s on stock truck

I have 5100’s on a 2017 SCLB 4x4 with no snow plow, no lift, no level or camper package. Night and day difference between factory. I also did the steering stabilizer in 5100. Unbelievable how much better than factory. I’m on and off road quite a bit and zero problems. The above statement by this company and many forum members confirming that 5100’s work fine on factory trucks.

Someone in this forum somebody posted a screen shot of a conversation they had with a Bilstein rep from Europe, who stated the compressed + extended lengths for both the 4600 and 5100 shocks for the 2017+ Super Duty. They're very very close, so should be no problem in using either on a stock height truck.

I have also read that the internals are the same for the 4600 and 5100, so it may just be a case of select the color you like more...

Select the color you want it to look a couple years down the road if you live in a winter salt state. The 5100 aluminum tube gets pretty stained looking. I think some guys will clear coat them before install and that helps.

Shocks have the same internals. For a stock height truck, go with the color you like best.
