Steering wheel controls not working
Hello all. So I have a 2016 F350 Lariat dually super duty. The steering wheel controls quit working on me. The left side I can still use the cursor (center) buttons but the Cruise buttons wont work. On the Right side none of the buttons work. I did buy a new Motorcraft brand switch for the left side just to see if it was an issue with the switch and nothing further. I also checked the fuse under the kickplate on the passenger side under the dash.. Before i get into replacing the clock spring is there anything else I should look at before I get into all of that? The center cursor button on the left works, and the horn works. no buttons on the right work.. Thanks for all your help

No, the SCCM is on the steering column I believe. Maybe someone will chime in with the functions of the SCCM. I would think the if the clock spring only had some bad spots, it would work in other positions of the steering wheel.
Maybe some one can give you more info. I know most of the functions of the switches deals with resistance that the modules interpret as to which one and what switch was pushed on that side, right or left. The resistance value tells the radio for instance to raise or lower volume or change the channel/station or answer the phone, etc.

My 2015 would go backwards through the radio when i press the forward button to change stations. Sometime it would jump 2 or 3 stations. The dealer replaced the clock spring under warranty and it solved the problem.

Your problem sounds more like a clock spring issue.

The clock spring can be replaced by yourself. It does require being aligned properly with the steering wheel angle sensor since the 2016 does have the white lines on the reverse camera that bend. The wiper/multi-function switch/stem might need replaced as the wipers do not go through the clock spring.
The clock spring does not require programming nor does the wiper stem. The SCCM does require programming.
There should be a few threads on this forum or the 6.7 forum on clock spring and SCCM replacement. The 6.7 forum is

Just to update this thread for the original poster. I did purchase an OEM clock spring from an online dealer for like $106 bucks. Removal of airbag and steering wheel wasn’t bad at all. Replaced clock spring and reinstalled. Audio controls work like a champ. I would agree with the guys before that it’s probably your issue as it was mine and my steering wasn’t making an noise at all either. Hope you get it figured out.
