It seems like no matter how many times I flush out my radiator and block, the water is rusty in no time. Anyone found a solution for this? 1994 F-350 460 .
Flush with Motorcraft VC8. Make sure you are back flushing also with the lower radiator hose removed and no thermostat installed. Use the heater hoses as flush points to assist.
I've generally always done a caustic flush, and then followed it up with calgon, then clean water. (I honestly can't say that I know that the calgon does anything, but it's a trick i picked up from an old Detroit mechanic, when I was working for a DDC dealer a number of years ago) All I know is that after that, I end up not having rusty crap coming out of the cooling system.
Question would be, what are you putting back in after flush out, you cant use tap water from sink or water hydrant, you need distilled water to flush out the flush out(LOL), then use 50/50 antifreeze, unless your getting 100% antifreeze, then use distilled water with it, to stop the rust.
