Just got a rebuilt M5OD 4 months ago and already 3rd gear was acting up and popping out when I let off the gas to coast. Took it back to the place I bought it from and told him about the problem, When he checked it out he found the forks have unusally wore down. Said he didnt know what could have caused this to happen so quickly, usually riding with your hand on the shifter will cause this. But I knew that already and dont ride with my hand on the shifter. So I dont know what could have caused it to happen. He replaced the fork cap with a new one, seen it myself, and the problem of it coming out of 3rd stopped. For a little while. Its happening again and I know its the forks again because it is doing the same thing and it feels exactly the sama way it did before he replaced the forks the first time.
So do any of you guys know what might be causing the forks to wear so quickly, Ive gotta find out whats causing this because I cant afford to buy new forks every two months. The truck has been lowered 5" in front and 7" in back, but I dont think it would hurt the drive shaft or tranny cause the shaft angle is not as harsh like a stock 2WD. Actually its probably better for it cause its pretty much a straight line from tranny to axle.
