Hi guys. I just purchased what I believe to be a ‘72 f-350 dually. I have tried to check the vin and I’m coming up on dead ends. I think the truck is a cab and chassis. It is a big block 429 or 460 with a two barrel carb. The vin is f37yrno3845 can any one help me with this decoding? Thank you in advance!
Thanks for the help. I found another book I. The truck that talks about unfinished cab and chassis. Yet it has a different vin on it. The f37 is the confusing part. I found f350 badges in the truck so I assumed if was a 350. Yet we know how that goes….
Cool! Thanks guys. Now I am off to find out what the engine is that is in it. It looks to big to be a 390. Yet I’ll have a better idea after it gets a bath. Thanks again gents
Thanks 4drocket!
I did some research and scrubbing and found the block # it is D1VE with 6015A below that. Looks like that is a ‘71 429 or 460. The head casting # is D0VE-C. From what I can tell the head are 75cc chambers from 1970.
Any body know what the 6015A stands for?
if it dont have the engine it came with from the factory then its probably a pick n pull special with who knows what from who knows where. good luck with that project. from what i read its most likely a 460.
