I am going to finally buy and install a flip hood kit on my 1955Ford F100. I have finally settled on a us stock kit from Summit Racing. My questions are is there anything I need to fix or upgrade on my truck. Examples are change radiator coolant , water pump or fan? The reason I ask is that I noticed the area in the front is a little crowded when the hood tilts forward. And the last question is I noticed the s shaped that the roller rides is does this get in the way of repair work in the future? I have my truck running really well. I just want to stay ahead of the curve.
Thanks
Jerry
Do you have a link to the exact kit? Unless there is something very unique I don't see a problem with any tilt kit I am familiar with. I have a No Limit Engineering kit. If I don't use the prop rod and set it all the way forward gently, there is a lot of room for maintenance. It wouldn't be comfortable but I could literally sit on my radiator. Several feet of clearance above it. The engine is much more accessible than a stock hinge setup. It's almost as if the hood is removed for any under hood task.
Im sorry the kit is on eBay. the kit cost 170.98 dollars no part number.
thanks
Jerry
I bought the same one. Works good. Instructions are a big lacking for me. Looks like they were translated from another language to english. I had to use the MIdfifty website and look at there instructions.
I saw that kit installed on trucks over 20 years ago. A lot of the rodding products are far from new. Don't be afraid to use the advanced search feature on this forum. This place used to be extremely active and there are extensive threads on most of the common mods.
