2004 F250. Let me start by saying the 04 headlights are total garbage. Wondering what people have done to improve. Of course there are a million options on EBay. Mostly junk but if you had good luck with something please share. Also looking for any swap options that don’t require a ton of modifications.
thanks,
Richard
I'm looking to get new headlights as well for my 06. Mine are just aged, I've cleaned the yellowing off but there are still imperfections visible with the lights on.
Sylvania SilverStar is a significant improvement over the stock bulbs, and it's just a bulb change-out. I've done them on several vehicles and it is a good bang for the buck...
Just ordered a set from Tony today. Got head lights and fog lights. Looking forward to getting em on the truck. I’ll post a picture or two when I do. I was a little disappointed he didn’t have any ready to go, looks like 3-4 weeks.
I think he does that for two reasons.
The first being stock costs $ and the
second being if you want to get other options he can do that as he builds them.
That way if you want a different trim ring on the projector or a halo put in also you can.
I know that you will like the kin.
Makes sense, the new housings aren’t cheap. I didn’t order anything special, just the projector mod and the fogs to go with them. I drive to work in the dark every morning and it’s apparent how bad the stock headlights are when drive different vehicles sometimes. I did a polish on them a couple of months ago and they are clear and not yellowed and I have those Sylvania bulbs in them. Tinkered with the adjustment a little but ended up right back where I started. Hopefully this will be the ticket. They projectors look kinda cool too so that’s a plus. I plan on keeping the truck for the foreseeable future so that helps my attitude a little on the expense. I replaced the grill a couple of months ago too so it’s pretty fresh looking from the front. I’m starting to loose clear coat on the hood and roof though, not sure what I’m gonna do with that.
I couldn't go the $400 I saw on previous posts for his lights. I'm sure it's worth it but I got some Spyder headlights despite some of the poor reviews. I'll put em in sometime and give you my opinion. They look like a quality product out of the box.

I think you are going to like all the light that hits the road over what the stock ones did not do.
I can tell you I really like mine.
On you tube (what isn't anymore) there is a version on how to use WD-40 to clean the outer shell and then he talks about putting a clear wrap over them. Dont know where the wrap comes from but they looked good. I am like to OPs original guy, but dont have the miles on the truck. Have had the EGR cooler replaced with a BP Diesel one, new oil cooler, new head gaskets and studs, added a bigger trans pan and thats about it. Bought truck new to tow a TT, sold the TT, wife wanted a motorhome so we use the truck for travel mainly now, last trip to LA for a wedding ran good. Son in law bought a TT last Oct in Texas, asked us to go pick it up and bring home, ran well till we got to the destination then had issues with it bucking and trying to die. Wrote the mech who had worked on it before and he said it sounded like bad EGR valve. I had not been running a connected valve so went out and plugged in and it seemed to clear up. Towed the trailer home no issues! Tried to find a RV with the diesel in it, found a couple but there were issues with wife with the coach so we didnt get. I use a scan gauge and ran the rigs with it hooked up. All temps within spec but again they were low mileage units, ended up with the V10 it works OK nothing to really brag about. Just had it in for emissions and they passed it with little to no readings on the computer. Just like new and its an early model 04. Yes they are good trucks, my BIL has 1`75K on his and they were rough miles as he works in the woods and it is not getting TLC. He has R&Rd most all the problem areas and he still loves it. He tried a new 6.2 and said his with the chip was so much better and he would not get a new truck. He is getting up in age now but the truck is still driven I think last thing he replaced was the high press fuel pump.
I got the headlights installed last weekend. What a difference! The high beams are amazing. I’m going to raise them just a touch but that about it. The line is at the bottom of the bumper on the car I’m following at a reasonable distance. I’ve seen some videos about measuring and all that but in the end it’s “take it for a drive and see how it looks”. Anyway, I like them so-far and they look good too so extra benefit there. Installation was a little more involved than I imagined, ballasts, harness, and controller and there was a little modifying required to get the bulbs in the housings he sent. The fog lights had a round hole that shoulda been square but a little filing fixed that. There’s not a lot of room in our trucks in the areas the harness will reach so the ballasts ended up behind the grill on each side, and the CAN buss controller over by the passenger side battery. They were all Ford style weather proof connectors but I got some electrical connection grease at the parts store today and plan to put a little of that in the connectors for added insurance.
Those look good. I just put the Sylvania Silverstars in my 2005, and they are only marginally better. For some reason my 2005 XLT didn't come with fog lights. Rusty, if you don't mind me asking, what was the cost for the headlights?
