I have a 1977 F250 Custom im needing help on where Im supposed to locate grounding straps on the truck and where does my negative battery cable goes as well? correct me if im wrong but I believe I need a grounding strap on the engine to body and then another one on body to frame but I could be completely wrong
^ THIS! I added a ground like the above pic to the radiator core support. The headlights and parking lights on the grill have a ground strap that connects there.
Also, Question for 77... Where'd ya get that battery hold down bracket? Is that the og or an aftermarket? I need one for mine.
If you are asking me, that is just a FTE pic I saved for a great example. But that hold down strap is common to a lot of JY vehicles I see. It is for a specific size of battery though. I had one at one time, but it would not fit my battery, so I had to grind off the 90* edges.
Main battery ground wire to engine block. At that same connection on the block run a ground strap to the frame. Secondary smaller negative lead to radiator support. Also a frame to cab ground strap. This is how I have mine set up.

You can find those at most every auto parts store. They have universal ones.

That particular one runs on a slant across the battery and lines up with the holes/ squares in the tray for the threaded rods... The universals run straight across the battery (I have one of those now, looking to replace with the original bracket).
FYI that one above is metal (and very thin at that) and then plastic coated. The one in my pic is all plastic and heavy duty ish.....just saying.
Was the stocker plastic? I am trying to restore everything under the hood to the original state... I have some cheesey auto parts store bracket on there right now.
Not to sure on the OEM design or what material it is made of, but I do know that the one in my pic was NOT it. The OEM one (at least attached to the passenger side fenderwell for it to attach to) is a weird shaped 3 bend bracket that the OEM bracket attaches to.
