II found the driver side battery leaking as it was wet on top and had run down both sides. Truck has under 10k on it and dealer said leaking would not
be covered unless it failed a test of some type. So I pulled both batteries and put in a set of Odyssey batteries. The hold down shows a fair bit of the acid
ate away at it. I used baking soda and water and cleaned the tray and all while the battery was out. Should I worry or is this just one of those things that
can happen?
You could have hit it with some spray paint after cleaning things up and neutralizing the acid. But no, I wouldn't worry about it. It takes a really long time for things like this to rust completely through and battery hold down bolts are cheap and plentiful.
Curious though, why didn't you let the dealer have a shot at it before spending the $$$ on new batteries?
Don't go there for a leaky radiator. No, you got ripped, but now you have better batteries. I understand Ford OEM batteries tend to leak. If mine ever do I'll get Walmart's Ever Start. Not super wahzoo but best value for the money at that price point and nationwide warranty.
On edit: They have an AGM now at a good price point.

Common, at least you made a great choice on replacements. They will last a long time.
I did hit the hold down with some paint before I put it back on. I asked the dealer and sent him a clear picture of it leaking and was told it was not covered.
I did not want to end up with more leaking batteries so I just replaced them myself. I do admit the dealers around me are Poo Poo so I just expect nothing
will be covered and that is just typical.
