The link is for the news article as posted. This was the extent of the factories discussed. Like everything in life lately...we are waiting for better news as well as our trucks.
I made this mistake also the other day.
This article references Louisville Assembly plant, which does not produce the Superduty line. KTP (Kentucky Truck Plant) produces the Superduty
My question is, when will this microchip shortage end? I never heard of this before COVID.
This is not the first time for a chip shortage, just with cars to this volume. Chevy had an issue in 2006 with their aveo. I know, i had one. Video card shortages have been common place now for years. We need to build them here in the US now. The last factory to move was intel about 10 years ago. All want bigger profit margins and to skip being taxed and paying their fair share.
Looks like things will get worse before they get better. Hopefully this is an eye opener that you cannot rely on foreign suppliers, no control. Ford needs to rethink strategy long term. They can get the vehicle to 99.9% complete but cannot sell them due to a missing module that is also built 99% complete but missing a chip.

“...paying their fair share.” Corporations are just tax collectors for the government, so the government can make them out as the villain and government as the savior. Corporations pass all of their costs on to the consumer.
For 179k we can make the whole thing here. until domestic producers and the unions figure out without import competition they can double the price again . capitalism works , you don't set your price your competition does. best to let the free markets decide who build what and if we can't compete so be it.
whenever I find myself crying because I have to wait a few months for a new $90k pickup I don't need in the slightest it reminds me of how spoiled I am.

There should be an award for best line of the day because you just won it.
For what I need from a truck I should get a Ranger, (Had one once!) but for what I want, that requires an F-250. But not quite $90K worth!

eh, not everyone is buying 90k trucks. For my business I have been saving up for an XLT CCLB with 7.3 since the engine was announced and my budget is about 45k before tax. It’s a combination and price point that was possible if I order it with a dealer that is willing to play ball but at this point everyone is buying at MSRP or higher to tow their remote work / get away travel trailers. The delay will just force Ford to prioritize the 90k trucks before the 45k trucks.
